Dancing On Ice’s brand new commentator Matt Chapman has quit the series after just one episode, it has been confirmed.
The sports commentator made his debut on the dancing competition last Sunday night, when the series returned to ITV after a 4-year hiatus.
But Matt has hung up his skates after just one episode into the brand new series, leaving show bosses scrambling to find a replacement before this Sunday’s episode.
Matt, 34, had big boots to fill as he was the late Tony Gubba’s replacement, after he died in 2013.
ITV confirmed to The Bite that Matt left the show, and was not sacked, saying: “We can confirm that Matt Chapman has left the show, and wish him all the very best and look forward to him reporting at ITV Racing at Warwick this weekend.”
Meanwhile, The Sun are reporting that Matt was forced to leave the show after “he couldn’t make his diary work”.
Matt told the newspaper: “I’ve decided to hang up my skates, leave the rink and return to the turf. I wish the show the best of luck for the rest of the run.”
Dancing On Ice continues this Sunday night on ITV.
