The Voice UK: Olly Murs reveals what it’s really like to be on the coaching panel

The Voice UK returns this January with a brand new coach; former X Factor star Olly Murs!

Olly, 33, is no stranger to singing competitions, after he found fame on X Factor all the way back in 2009, before returning to host the series in 2015, alongside Caroline Flack.

But Olly has now jumped ship, and has become a coach on the new series of The Voice UK, where he joins Will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Jennifer Hudson.

Describing how it feels to be on the show, Olly said: “It feels amazing. It is incredible to be part of such an amazing show and a show that I have watched from afar for many years. I am really enjoying being part of such a fun, exciting show, it is brilliant.”

Olly first found fame on X Factor in 2009

Meanwhile, Olly revealed that Jennifer is his biggest competition, saying: “I think it [his biggest competition] has to be Jennifer. She was the winner last time, the one to beat. Myself, Tom and Will, we have just been all about beating Jennifer Hudson as we can’t let her win again! She has been the one we are all up against.”

Olly went on to say that he’s “looking for someone who isn’t like anyone else already out there” and that have a “pop voice but also people who are unique and charismatic characters”.

The Voice UK returns to ITV on Saturday, January 6 at 8pm.
