Channel 5 have been forced to announce the identity of one of their housemates this morning, just days before launch.
They confirmed rumours that journalist and Boris Johnson’s sister Rachel Johnson, is indeed taking part in the new series next month.
The reality TV show never usually reveals, or confirms housemates until the live launch, but they’ve been forced to on this occasion after Rachel wrote an article announcing her involvement.
In her Daily Mail article, Rachel says she “didn’t delete the annual email” asking her to be on the show; all because of Channel 5 celebrating women empowerment.
“It was because this one said that the new series was all about female empowerment and 100 years since women got the vote,” the journalist said.
She went on to reveal that they were initially going to call the launch show ‘Big Sister’ because of the all-female line up, but have instead opted for ‘Celebrity Big Brother: Year Of The Woman’.
Confirming Rachel’s participation next month, a Channel 5 spokesperson said: “We can confirm that journalist Rachel Johnson, will be one of the female Celebrity Big Brother housemates entering the Celebrity Big Brother house live at 9pm, Tuesday 2nd January 2018 on Channel 5.”
