Gordon, Gino and Fred lay on a banquet this Christmas to honour the heroes of 2017

Renowned chefs Gordon Ramsay and Gino D’Acampo will lay on a banquet for the heroes of this year, alongside First Dates Maître D Fred Siriex.

The Christmas event, which will take place at City of London’s historic Merchant Taylor’s Hall, will see Gordon and Chino do a blind taste test on dishes which celebrity guests have to cooked.

The celebrity guests includes ex-Spice Girl Geri, actress and singer Martine McCutcheon, rapper and song writer Professor Green, news presenter Kay Burley, Emmerdale actor Chris Bisson and actor Larry Lamb.

The ‘heroes’ sitting down to enjoy the meals are members of the public and the emergency services who bravely risked their lives and went above and beyond the call of duty in 2017.

Once split into two teams, the celebrities have just one day to train up and learn to cook their chef’s impressive festive menu before the banquet doors open and the heroes arrive.

Charming Maître D Fred meanwhile will not only be tasked with running the service, with the assistance of celebrity waiter Stephen Merchant, but he’ll also be wrangling the results from the deserving diners, whilst keeping the self-assured Brit and the feisty Italian apart.

Speaking about the festive show, Gordon said: “I’m looking forward to roasting the chestnuts out of Gino and giving him an absolute stuffing, during our Great Christmas Roast.  It’s going to be a lot of fun, but the real prize will be the privilege of cooking a fantastic feast and serving up three stunning courses to some truly deserving diners, who I hope will have an amazing night during the final banquet.”

Gino added: “It’s a great honour to cook for so many people who have made a difference in 2017 – I know we’ll make it a night to remember. And it will be a day to remember for Gordon – he’ll need to be on top of his game because my kitchen is going to serve up a menu that will have our diners asking for more!”

Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Great Christmas Roast, Thursday, 21st December at 9pm on ITV
