Tonight, it was the Strictly Come Dancing quarter-final – and the six remaining couples pulled out all the stops for the show’s annual Musicals Special.
The show began with an Oliver-themed routine from the professionals and celebrities, before the performances got underway.
Opening the show were Gemma and Aljaz, who Quickstep’d to ‘Hello Dolly!’. They received mixed comments from the judges and scored 29.
Next to dance were Mollie and AJ, whose Rumba to ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’ from Grease, saw them score 31 – the first time that they have ever been scored two nines!
Joe and Katya then did the Samba to ‘Money Money’ from Cabaret – and after topping the leaderboard last week, they were hoping to follow suit. They did just that, earning a score of 37 from the judges.
Fourth to take to the floor were Debbie and Giovanni, who performed an American Smooth to ‘Memory’ from Cats. They earned a standing ovation from head judge Shirley – and a near-perfect score of 39.
The penultimate couple to perform were Davood and Nadiya, who did the Argentine Tango to ‘The Phantom Of The Opera’. Davood was the first male celebrity this series to take on the dance – and he and Nadiya joined Gemma and Aljaz with a score of 29.
Last to perform their routine were Alexandra and Gorka, who survived last week’s dance-off. Their Charleston to ‘Supercalifragilistic’ from Mary Poppins saw them join Debbie and Giovanni at the top of the leaderboard, with a score of 39.
