Following last years hugely popular series, Channel 5 have announced that The X-Files will return once again in 2018.
Filming has begun on the new series in Canada, and FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully will both once again reprise their roles.
The X-Files has been a global hit since its first series in 1993, and is one of the most successful television dramas of all time.
The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny) as they investigate unexplained cases – “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.
The last series was a ratings success for Channel 5, with over 10 million viewers tuning in for its six week run – with over a million watching on Channel 5’s catch up service ‘My5’.
Katie Keenan, VP, Acquisitions, Channel 5 and VIMN UK, said: “We’re thrilled to confirm the return of The X-Files on Channel 5 in 2018. The last series was a huge success with a legion of new fans enjoying this iconic and contemporised series.”
