Saturday night seen the show return to our screens since Matt Terry won back in December 2016, but ratings were seriously down.
Overnight ratings show that a peek of 6 million viewers tuned into Saturdays premiere, down from the 6.8 million people that watched last years opening episode.
Although there’s almost a million in the difference, numbers are expected to rise when the viewers who watched on catch-up are taken into account.
“We can’t compete with their overall audience because they’re much older,” Simon said on the ratings battle recently. “What’s important for us is to keep the young audience interested in the show.”
The X Factor continues next weekend on ITV.
