The X Factor head judge Simon Cowell has revealed that former judge Cheryl’s ex Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini made a throat-slitting gesture to him during recordings of the show.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Cowell said that Cheryl’s estranged husband screamed at him and put his hand across his neck at him when he criticised one of Cheryl’s acts.
“There was one night where his behaviour was out of order. She had an act in the bottom two or something. He was up on his feet,” Simon explained.
Taking action on Jean-Bernard’s behaviour, Simon said he decided to bring it to Cheryl’s attention while suggesting that her hubby watched the show at home.
“I said to Cheryl it might be better if he doesn’t come down and watches it at home and jumps on as many sofas as he wants,” Simon revealed.
Meanwhile, a show insider spoke of the incident and said: “Everyone was stunned by JB’s behaviour, especially him deciding to make a throat-slitting gesture at Simon who was just doing his job.
“This took place near the end of the 2014 series after Simon had chosen to send Cheryl’s act Lauren Platt home over Louis Walsh’s boy band Stereo Kicks.”
