A show based on miming celebrities has managed to beat Celebrity Big Brother in the viewers ratings. Last night (8th January) saw the launch of Lip Sync Battle UK 2016 with an average audience of 1.6 million viewers tuning in to the first episode on Channel 5, excluding those watching on +1.
This is quite a good viewers rating for a debut show which received a mixture of positive views from the public.
The programme was in fact Channel 5’s second most watched programme of the night, nestled between the two live Celebrity Big Brother evictions.
From 9PM, Celebrity Big Brother was ahead in the viewers rating with 1.7 million viewers, but then it dropped behind for the actual eviction and twist at 10:30PM with 1.55 million.
Those Celebrity Big Brother figures compare to last year’s Friday audience of 2.3 million although that was just the one show and not the actual live eviction. The first live eviction of 2015 had almost 3 million viewers which is amazing!
It looks to have been a slow start to the new series of Celebrity Big Brother but it’s only been on a week.
CBB continues nightly on Channel 5 while Lip Sync Battle is back next Friday night.
