Body snatching, UFO spotting and an international cycle race are just some of the weird and wonderful worlds that DCI John Barnaby and DS Charlie Nelson are immersed in for the 18th series of Midsomer Murders.

Neil Dudgeon (Barnaby) and Gwilym Lee (Nelson) return for a extended run of six feature length episodes on ITV made by Bentley Productions (part of All3media).

The crime solving duo is joined this series by new forensic pathologist Dr Kam Karimore played by Manjinder Virk. And Barnaby’s wife Sarah (series regular Fiona Dolman) also returns along with baby Betty and of course family favourite Sykes the dog.

In the first episode, wealthy landowner Gregory Lancaster’s body goes missing on the night of his death, a sinister web of secrets and lies is exposed in the village of Little Malton. DCI Barnaby, DS Nelson and new Forensic Pathologist Kam Karimore are drawn into a macabre world of body-snatching as they seek to identify the villain.

The brand new series starts on Wednesday 6th January from 8pm on ITV.
