The Strictly Semi Final has happened and all five couples have performed for your votes. The semi finals is always tough because not only do they have to learn one dance in fact they have to learn two so the pressure is tough on that dance floor. All five contestants had to perform at there best if they wanted to be in that Strictly final next week.

First up was Katie Derham with her dance partner Anton Du Beke. Now this was a special occasion for Anton as he hasn’t reached this stage in a long time. This was the chance for Katie Derham to impress the judges with her first dance which was the Charleston, but if she couldn’t please the judges with her first dance perhaps the second dance The Waltz would impress everyone. Her first dance got a bit of criticism from Craig, as he said that her timing was a big issue in the dance. But was he impressed with her Waltz? Katie seemed more comfortable in ballroom and the judges preferred this dance to the first one.

Next up was Georgia May foot and Giovanni who danced The Vienesse Waltz and the Cha Cha Cha. The stakes were very high for Georgia before this semi final as she has impressed week in and week out, but the pressure was on before this semi final as she hasn’t been very well which cost her rehearsal time, but this did not affect her as the judges couldn’t praise her enough, the only criticism she got from the judges in the Cha Cha Cha was that she didn’t have enough hip action. But Georgia is definitely the one to watch in this competition.

Jay McGuiness and Aliona Valani were the next couple up and Jay has been unstoppable in the betting and he is the front runner to win the show. They danced The Vienesse Waltz and The Charleston which were two totally different dances and the pressure was definitely on his shoulders. Was he able to impress with both dances?. His Viennese Waltz was very passionate and very good, but he did receive criticism from Craig about his facial expressions and emotions that he didn’t show during the dance. His Charleston however did impress the judges as they loved it, which scored him very highly in the judges scores.

Then it was Anita and Glebs turn to show what they have got. They danced The Salsa and the Foxtrot, again two very different dances. Anita’s dances have been a bit of rollercoaster as she has scored high on some weeks and scored low in other weeks. Her Salsa seemed very good with a lot of hip action and a lot of energy and her Foxtrot was very energetic and passionate and it demonstrated her chemistry with Gleb very well. The judges really loved this dance as she seems very good in ballroom. She is another potential underdog in this competition.

Finally up was Kellie Bright and Kevin and they danced The Rumba and the American Smooth. Having been in the bottom 2 in previous weeks, could Kellie prove that she deserves a spot in that final next week. Her Rumba was very passionate and emotional and seemed to impress the judges and her American Smooth  was given the highest score of the night as she scored 3 10’s from the judges and left her top of the leader board. But it could all change quickly depending on the public votes.

This final could not be any tougher as the talent is really high this year. Who will be voted into the final next week and fight it out for that glitterball trophy?
