Lauren Murray is the latest act to leave the competition just missing out on a place in the X Factor final in Wembley next weekend.
Tonight’s episode seen the judges go to deadlock after the public voted Lauren and Che into the bottom two.
An emotional Lauren put in a passionate performance of Rachel Platten’s ‘Fight Song’ as she bid to stay in the competition, while Che delivered a rousing rendition of ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ by Simon and Garfunkel.
All the judges were reluctant to send either of the bottom two home. Nick told Lauren as he saved his act: ”I never wanted to send you home, you know I’m a massive fan. When you make a record, I’d love to have you on my show.”
Lauren’s mentor Rita Ora said to Che: “You’ve done so well up to this point, you’ve got one of the best voices in the competition. This is really hard, I don’t want to send anyone home.”
Cheryl sent home Lauren saying: ”There really isn’t a valid reason why because for me, both of these artists are amazing singers. Lauren, it’s heartbreaking to see you this upset at this stage and it’s only going to get harder from here.”
Mr Cowell said to the bottom two: ”I like both of you, I want you both in the final. Che you’re a great singer, Lauren you’re also a great singer.”
Cowell decided to put the decision in the hands of the public, which saw Lauren exit the show.
